We aren’t sure if the phrase “Let them eat cake” ever left the great Marie Antoinette’s mouth. But, we’re positive that if Annette Vartanian was around she would have no qualms with the queen. After all, it’s her duty as a bride-to-be to indulge in sweet delicacies.  Find out what other things the blogger fancies below, hint: it’s related to her blog name.

Your blog name is “I Heart Vintage Couture” do you have a favorite vintage item or places to find great pieces?

I have too many favorites! I love all of the pieces handed down from my Mom (one of my style icons). I’m also obsessed with a Givenchy black lace gown I purchased from Shareen Vintage. It’s so beautiful that I actually wear it around the house just to feel extra fabulous.  I also love a pair of Hollywood regency crystal lamps I purchased from a vintage store several years ago.  They add the right touch of glam to our mid century living room.   My favorite vintage stores are Shareen Vintage for fun and beautiful dresses and Sunbeam Vintage for the home.

You’re getting married! Are there any similarities to picking out a wedding dress/bridesmaid dress and styling a post?

Yes, most definitely!  When styling outfits for the blog, I stay true to my style and personality since the blog is an extension of me.  I focus on what I like and what works on my body type rather than what is most trendy.  Shopping for a bridal dress is very similar.  I wanted a bridal dress that had a vintage silhouette with modern touches and fortunately I found the perfect dress.  It’s very unique and screams Annette!

What’s your number one piece of advice for future brides?

Go to as many cake tastings as possible!

Any beauty secrets?

Get lots of sleep and drink lots of water.  To keep my hair healthy and shiny, I don’t color it and I only wash it once a week.

What are your favorite reads? (This can be a magazine, novel, poetry, etc?)

I was an English Lit major in college so I’m definitely a book nerd! I definitely prefer flipping through interior design magazines as I sip on a cocktail (naturally), or curl up with a good book after a long day at work.

Do you have a favorite quote?

Not what we have but what we enjoy, constitutes our abundance. by Epicurus. You can have all the material goods, but if you don’t enjoy life, the people around you, and everyday epiphanies, then you’ll never be happy. This is definitely my motto for enjoying a productive and meaningful life.

Where would one typically find you on the weekend?

I definitely love to sleep in as late as possible and then have a decadent brunch with my fiance, Alan.  We love to hobnob around town to check out new art galleries, visit our favorite vintage stores, and finish the night with a cocktail.

This one goes out to all our college grads. You did it! We here at The Dazzle are very proud of you. Personally I’m also terrified for you. Why? Because once you leave campus life, it gets weird. I’m not saying that because I want to scare you but because I wish someone had warned me. For example, in the real world, if you can’t sleep at 3 a.m., you can’t just go downstairs and play pool with a dozen peers in their p.j.s. No one is ever awake anymore because they all have to work in the morning.Crazy, I know.

Suddenly, you face an entirely new set of expectations. Everyone expects you to land a job, keep that job, stop shopping at Abercrombie & Fitch, and refrain from celebrating Messed-Up Mondays, Toasted Tuesdays, Wasted Wednesdays, and even Thirsty Thursdays. It’s a lot to handle.

With Dad Day and Grad Day occupying the same month, you may feel pressure to unveil a more mature version of yourself at the next family/friend function. Just so we’re clear, I’m not suggesting that you be mature, but rather that you dress the part. Daddy’s angel now has wings. This is your chance to publicize your accomplishment. It’s a social media blitz, and I call it The Grown and Sexy Tour. It stars you, Lexa, and Dylan.

Mature and responsible adults buy neutral basics because they’re practical and they go with everything.

Secretly, we know they accentuate your legs when you’re wearing the shortest, tightest skirt you could possibly find at Forever21.

If you want to look all grow’d up without losing your youthful stride, try Jane She emphasizes the ‘casual’ in “Business Casual.”

Motown the Musical’s Valisia Lekae, who stars as Diana Ross, took a moment to share exclusive ShoeDazzle scoop about moments that led up to the Tony Awards and her very first Broadway play.

ShoeDazzle: Tell us, how were the Tony Awards?

Valisia Lekae: I had the time of my life! It was my first time attending the Tony’s as a nominee! 5 years ago, I put on my vision board “Star in a Broadway show and the words: TONY Awards.” It was nice to see that vision become a reality!  My favorite part was wearing my dress which was designed for me by ESOSA, and seeing all the performances!

ShoeDazzle: Where were you when you first found out you were nominated?

Valisia Lekae: In bed! I didn’t want to listen or watch. 8 mins went by and my phone didn’t ring (the ringer wasn’t working). So, I picked up my phone and saw all of the text messages!

ShoeDazzle: How did you get started on Broadway?

Valisia Lekae: Over 10 years ago, a friend of mine sent me in on her theatre audition. That audition spun a lot of other theatre opportunities; regionally, touring, Off-Broadway and Broadway! My 1st Broadway show was in 2006, I was a swing (off-stage cover) in The Three Penny Opera starring Cyndi Lauper and Alan Cumming!

ShoeDazzle: How do you prepare before a show, any routines?

Valisia Lekae: I vocalize, stretch, pray/mediate!  I also enjoy listening to Deepak Chopra and classical music, particularly Erik Satie!

ShoeDazzle: When did you first start dancing and singing?

Valisia Lekae: I started singing in church when I was six! My mother was a natural born dancer, so that was handed down to me. But, when we could no longer afford for me to attend ballet classes, my mother would teach me ballet stretches in order to keep me flexible.

ShoeDazzle: What is your dream role?

Valisia Lekae: Playing Diana Ross in the stage is pretty spectacular! But, I would love to portray her on the big screen in a movie  about her life!

ShoeDazzle: What is your favorite Supreme’s song?

Valisia Lekae: It’s so hard to choose a favorite, but I do like  ”The Happening,” “Reflections,” and “Baby Love!”

ShoeDazzle: Any fun facts you want to share?

Valisia Lekae: I love dogs, I have 3. I wasn’t obsessed with shoes until my dresser, Richard Gross introduced me to ShoeDazzle. I have a big sweet tooth, cakes pies you name it! My favorite perfume is Chanel No. 5 (it’s also my guilty pleasure!) and I’m obsessed with all things Tiffany’s!

The following is a true story: I typically write my blog on Tuesday nights and cross my fingers that it doesn’t get edited out before being published on Thursdays. My last rant negatively tipped the scales, so you’ll never know what it said—my bad/your loss. This week I thought it was Tuesday on Wednesday but I was lucky enough to be inspired by the happy hour I spent at the local TGI Friday’s. And I realized that, like ShoeDazzle, style is the main reason it’s always Friday there.

If you’re a fan of the show “Chopped,” you probably already respect pros who get creative with mandatory ingredients. The same goes for style at  TGI Friday’s. For every female employee, that mandatory ingredient is a branded sash. She is free to wear it however she wants: as a belt, a hair tie, a scarf, a slinky halter—doesn’t matter. It only matters that she’s flared up like it’s Friday and does Rebecca Black proud.

In the spirit of Americana, take some Sage advice and pair stripes with spikes. Clearly.

Be sure to Krissy cross the Atlantic-nautical look in red, white, and blue.

Finally, show us how you’d style a striped sash.  Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Vine—doesn’t matter. It only matters that you post @shoedazzle.

Richy T. – You may have noticed I have nothing positive to say about Mondays.
