What made you pursue fashion?

I’ve always been addicted to shopping and clothes. I come from a family with primarily men, so I guess I turned out as girly as possible.

How would you describe your style?

My style is always evolving. I tend to dress for the occasion and what I’m feeling like for the day. Some days I’m super vintage and other days I can be a total hippie. I guess I would say my style is chameleon like.

Where do you find style inspiration from?

I definitely get my style inspiration from fellow bloggers and friends. I love to see real girls wearing pieces I would wear in their own unique ways.

What’s your go-to piece to make a fashion statement?

A  fabulous full vintage skirt. It’s become my signature piece and I get so excited when I find a new one while vintage shopping.

You’re a Los Angeles native. If we were to hang out, where would you take us?

I would probably take you all over, since L.A. is such a large city. Brunch in Los Feliz probably my favorite little restaurant Alcove, followed by shopping on Melrose, a short peak at the LACMA, and dinner and drinks in Downtown.

We noticed you’re into travelling, tell us about your love for Italy and Via Ghibellina 76?

I spent a semester abroad in Italy about 2 years ago and fell in love with traveling. Europe is definitely a different place. It was so eye opening to see the many lifestyles people lived. Via Ghibellina 76 was my apartment and it was my favorite place to people watch from my window and write.

Tell us, which season do you prefer for dressing up?

Fall is my favorite season. I live trench coats and boots. It’s nice cause you can later for warmth but also de-layer if it gets hot which it usually does in LA.

When it comes to working out, what’s your favorite method?

Bikram yoga is my go to workout method. It centers me body mind and soul. I love detoxing and flushing the bad substances out of my system. It’s more for health than just being fit and having a nice body.

What’s on your workout playlist?

Nothing. Bikram yoga requires you to clear your mind and so you have to be in silence for an hour and a half.

Since your name is Stiletto beats, we can’t help but to ask… What’s your favorite ShoeDazzle heel?

I have so many but the one I love right now is the Levi! Edgy, comfortable and so wearable.

Remember when videophones were a thing of the future and you could only win them on “The Price is Right” or “Sally Jesse Rafael?”  Unfortunately, I do! But thankfully, some sort of revolution happened and the world finally got smart to smart phones.

So, I’m letting you know now—before anything has been “Dazzled”—that in the future you may be able to have your ShoeDazzle shoes sent to you via email thanks to 3-D printing.

This desktop 3-D printer appeared on my Facebook timeline a few days ago, I was ready to pop on some glasses to see it, but turns out, it wasn’t that kind of 3-D. This printer by Form1 creates objects you can hold, turn, and definitely throw. How? Lasers harden liquid plastic one itty-bitty layer at a time to form structures from the bottom up. The result is an object (not a print!).

This technology was not developed specifically for shoes, but conceivably, you could order a file from ShoeDazzle and instantly print your shoes straight from your desktop. Of course, we’d offer a wide variety of designer plastics that “laser out” to be colorful, pearly, metallic, matte, all that, and everything else. I imagine it would be something like choosing a nail polish from a great wall of options.

It’ll take a while, but I’m sure we’ll get there eventually.

If I said I liked flats, I’d be lying. I watch “Mean Girls” enough to know that heels in high school are totally sanctioned. Pretty much the only thing I like about flats is that sometimes they’re androgynous enough for me to “play” Shoedazzle, too.

However, lately I’ve noticed that some of the sensational flats on our site compensate for their lack of height with a heaping helping of shiny. As much as it pains me to admit it, these are some flattering flats. Gag.

Glora is the first in this sequence and has sequins for days. No, literally: She’s a great daytime shoe and as casual as other loafers, but all shiny about it.

Guard is dazzlingly dapper and not as flashy as Glora! A top hat and cane are optional, but a tux jacket with coattails is a must.

I actually went so far as to buy Treat (I had grand illusions of a stylish take on the Tinman), but even a size eleven was too small. Though, I did notice that the tapered toe elongates legs like a heel. I vote you keep the outfit as monochromatic as the shoes.

Blake Von D caught our attention when she won a ShoeDazzle contest. Her unique take on fashion and beauty had us from the beginning. But, her love for law keeps us intrigued. Read on to get to know a girl with beauty and brains!

Who is Blake Von D?

I’m really just a normal girl. Like a lot of girls, I enjoy pretty things and can’t get enough of dressing up. I’m also a big dreamer and all about girl power. I think there’s nothing that women can’t do and I try to embody that in everything I do.

If you had to tell your teenage-self one thing what would it be?

“TAKE THAT OFF!” Lol. I look back at all the terrible fashion choices I made as a teenager and I cringe. I can’t even justify it by conceding that I was fashionable for the time. Nope. It was just all around terrible decision making lol.

What type of law will you practice? What made you decide to go into law?

I’ve wanted to be a lawyer since I was a little girl. I’ve always had a penchant for “proving my point”. At the moment, I’m not quite sure what type of law I want to practice. I originally thought that I would definitely go into criminal defense. But lately I’ve been giving some thought to the fields of Fashion Law or IP Law, which deals with things like copyrights and trademarks. It’s a tough decision because I’m really passionate about social justice (I also have a Master’s of Social Work) and I feel like by not doing criminal defense, I’d be letting people down. But I just have to keep reminding myself that, “It’s ok to have more than one dream.”

To put it simply your hair is amazing! Do you have any hair journey stories that you can share with our readers?

Thank you! I cut my hair into this style shortly after graduating college in 2009 and I couldn’t have chosen a better style for myself. I think it really showcases my “what you see is what you get” personality and has forced me to truly appreciate my appearance on a deeper level, without relying on hair as a crutch. I’m loving everything about this journey!

Tell us your beauty secrets! What’s something you can’t live without?

I love a good foundation. My current go-to is MACs Liquid Studio Fix Foundation. I’m also a sucker for a good tube of mascara. My favorite is Maybelline’s Stiletto Mascara. And I always close out my day by cleansing my skin with Rx for Brown Skin’s acne treatment system.

We love your style, you were literally the girl crush of our office! Whose style do you often find yourself crushing on?

I’m totally blushing! You guys sure know how to make a girl feel special. I have quite a few style crushes. It’s hard to choose a favorite, but if I had to, it would be Rihanna (at the moment). She’s fearless and always willing to make bold style choices. You can’t help but love a girl with that sort of bravery. I also love Olivia Palermo’s style. That girl has impeccable taste!

If you could raid their closet what would you take?

O goodness, where to start?! I would DEFINITELY take the Stephane Rolland dress Rihanna wore to the 2009 Glamour Magazine Awards. It was showstopping! I’d also steal off with the black Armani gown she wore to the 2012 Grammys. As for Olivia Palermo, she always has great shoes. So I’d probably start by taking a pair…or six.

Do you have any statement pieces that you guiltlessly wear over and over again?

I have a great blazer that I recently purchased from H&M that I just can’t get enough of. It goes great with almost anything. It’s kind of sad how often I find myself wanting to wear it.

Finish the sentence. When I want to refresh my wardrobe I ____________.

I always start with my shoes!

The right shoe can change the whole feel of an outfit and luckily I have Shoedazzle to feed my addiction!

Head nod to your “Notoriously Chic” shirt, what’s one of your favorite lyric’s from the great B.I.G.?

I’m glad you like it! It’s a super cute tee designed by a close friend. I have to admit, I’m not the biggest B.I.G. fan (I’m more of a Tupac kinda girl), but if I had to choose my favorite lyric from the late rapper it would have to be the opening lyrics to “Big Poppa”, “To all the ladies in the place with style and grace…”. What fashionista can’t relate to those lyrics?!
