It would be an understatement to say that we’re obsessed with FKA Twigs. The London based singer, whose doll like face was featured on the pre-fall 2012 I-D cover, is quickly garnering attention for her edgy lyrics and angelic voice. Dare we say, girl power?!

Over the years, we’ve found that Mother Earth has an answer to most if not all of our beauty queries. With a little bit of experimentation we’ve found natural alternatives that can put your favorite beauty line to shame. If you’re up for a little DIY, follow Beauty Beat A-Z to add a little nature to your beauty regimen.

If you want stellar skin, you should indulge in the sweet side of life and use brown sugar as a natural scrub for your face and body. This sweet grain packs a powerful component called glycolic acid which is commonly used in beauty products to fight acne. Without harming our skin, the super small and soft particles work together to break down the stuff that helps dead skin cells form and reveal smooth and radiant skin. Brown sugar is also a humectant, so it draws in moisture and stores it for our driest moments. Simply apply the sugar to damp skin, rub gently in a circular motion and voila you’re on your way to glowing skin!

Halloween103113PostIn honor of Halloween, we present our top five most fashionable moments in horror film history.

1. Bride of Frankenstein – Hollywood glamour and Egyptian queen Nefertari were the inspirations for the wavy tresses seen on Frankenstein’s startled wife.

2. Rosemary’s Baby – Most know this film for Mia Farrow’s daring hair cut. But, the red chiffon trouser pant suit really defines the progressive state of fashion for women in the 60′s.

3. The Birds- Credit for Tippi Hedren’s legendary look goes to costume designer Edith Head, who referred to the suit’s green hue as “Eau de Nil.”

Wild Belle 103013

Wild Belle popped onto our radar after we witnessed a mesmerizing performance at Teen Vogue’s Young Hollywood party in September. The indie band led by brother and sister Elliot and Natalie Bergman  got their start in an earlier group called NOMO. Their sound is commonly referred to as reggae-pop and we couldn’t agree more. Natalie’s raspy voice paired with love centered lyrics over upbeat rhythmic tunes makes us feel like we’re on the shore of an island. Watch the video for “Another Girl” below to catch the drift.

Not only do avocados make a tasty bowl of guacamole; the creamy fruit is known for its high content of “good fat”  and is rich with vitamins that do wonders for skin and hair. When applied to the face, avocados penetrate the skin to boost moisture and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Hair also reaps the hydrating benefits when essential oils permeate and nourish our dry strands. There are plenty of different ingredients you can add to your hair/skin mask. But, we prefer to use an even mixture of avocado, honey, and extra virgin olive oil. Leave the mask on for fifteen minutes, remove with warm water and finish by closing your pores or hair cuticles with cold water.

Thursday night, Who What Wear and Cadillac celebrated 50 Style Stars at the London West Hollywood. The night brought out style driven starlets like Jessica Alba and Nicole Richie for champagne and a smooth playlist from Samantha Ronson. All guests were dressed to the nines, but we had an eye for style blogger Kelly Golightly’s look. Her oversized sweater, polka dot blouse, and leopard booties had chic written all over it!
