Swim 7.31.13

Clockwise from left: Agua Bendita, Dolores Cortés, Minimale Animale, Beach Bunny, Suboo, Beach Riot

With a girls’ trip to Vegas on the horizon, I’ve been searching for a new poolside look. Call me a sucker for a flawless, expressive head-to-toe swim ensemble, but it’s inherent! I’m a Cali girl born and raised. Let’s just say impromptu accessorizing and cookie-cutter ensembles (think solid colors, straw sun hats and cork wedges) are big no-no’s for me.

After browsing the 2013 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photos and finding nothing suitable (pun intended), I looked elsewhere for inspiration. Enter: Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim in Miami. Rife with tanned and toned bombshells wearing little to nothing, the 2014 collections presented me with just what I was looking for—looks that were easy on the eyes, heavy on the prints, and finished with just the right amount of punk rock inspiration from the ʼ80s and ʼ90s.

You’ll notice a lot of hairspray and hair gel…well that my friends is just the icing on the innertube. So, without further ado, here is a recap of the looks that have floated to the top of my list.

I don’t know about you all. But, when it comes to dating there’s definitely a height requirement for my heels. I never want to tower over my beau or be too short. So this adds a little bit of pressure when it comes to selecting shoes. If you have the same dilemma, I’ve put together a few options of tall and petite pumps to balance everything out.

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and although we’re above the school age games of pinching we think it’s best to go green for the holiday. Try your luck in feminine shades of pastel green, jade, or mint. For those of you striving to be the best dressed girl in the pub, take notes from Style Scrapbook’s ensemble and go head-to-toe in green; start with the Caragh’s and finish with a metallic skirt paired with a graphic sweatshirt.

It’s easy to get into a pattern of wearing those same sweatpants you’ve been wearing for days because let’s face it, you won’t get that hot study buddy of yours looking like you just rolled out of bed. The key to looking good on campus is to seem put together without looking like you’ve put in any effort. The first step is finding that perfect shoe and a good pair of loafers like the Shoedazzle “Katy” will do the trick to this look. A good loafer keeps you school-ready and is such a hot trend this Fall. To tie your outfit together, I would suggest adding a cool bag suitable for your laptop like the Shoedazzle “Geek Chic” lined case and pairing it with a trendy watch (Shoedazzle’s “White Haute” Watch) so you’ll be on time and looking your best.

  1. Topshop Tartan Drop Back Check Shirt, $56
  2. ShoeDazzle White Haute Watch, $39.95
  3. Essie “Stylenomics” Dark Green polish, $8
  4.  J Brand Mid-Rise Skinny Jeans, $196
  5. Warby Parker Tenley Eyeglasses, $95
  6. ShoeDazzle “Geek Chic” Velvet lined case for iPad or laptop , $39.95
  7. ShoeDazzle “Katy” Loafers, $39.95

We can’t help but drool over all the amazing new pieces from Shoedazzle! It was definitely a challenge, but we came up with our top five must-haves this Fall! From sky high wedges to hot peplums, here are our picks that we NEED in our closets ASAP!

Ray’s Top Wish Pick: The Keswick Shoulder Bag is so versatile since I can wear it from day to night. The bag comes in three colors and since my wardrobe is very neutral this season, this is just the right amount of color for any outfit. What I’m completely drooling over with this crossbody bag are the chunky studs on the front flap which give it the right amount of edge.

Ro’s Top Wish Pick: During the Fall, I live in wedges, and I always look for a bootie that I can wear from desk to dinner. The Katherine booties can be dressed down with some skinny jeans and a tee or dressed up with some cool leather legging pants, a loose blouse and some red lips.

1. Keswick Shoulder Bag – $39.95

2. Katherine Wedge Bootie – $39.95

3. Gera Peplum Sleeveless Sheath Dress – $44.95

4. Red-A-Flirt Shoulder Bag – $39.95

5. Mixed Metal Cocktail Ring (+ single ear hook and cuff!) – $39.95
