Yes, we’re still thinking about all of the gorgeous gowns we saw at the Met Ball.  To name (or show) a few, we couldn’t resist pairing some of our favorite dresses with our favorite shoes for the month!  What do you think?

In order:  Megan, Sinclair (coming soon), Rosella and Lizzy.

ShoeDazzle’s Chief Stylist, Rachel Zoe, inspires us to push the limits this spring! Suggesting three new trends to try, the fashion icon offers up a simple guide and styling tips to prove just how easy it is to have a fling with something different this season.

First up: the T-Strap! This ultra-chic ladylike favorite has become Zoe’s go-to for revving up red-carpet gowns and pencil skirts alike! When it comes to the Raelynn sandal, Zoe says, “Gladiator heels can really empower your business attire—wear them with skinny pants and a blazer to nail down a professional look.”

Next she explains how to ease into color (even if we’re always going to back to black). A relaxed design, like the Anjali wedge, offers a hint of a primary hue to lend casual wardrobe pieces a touch of brightness. The Seven platform sandal is a different story, but a fun one. “These shoes may just inspire you to throw a party! Rock them on your birthday or for another special occasion, and you’ll certainly be the center of attention!” Zoe explains.

Finally, Zoe talks studs and discusses how the embellishments add an instant pop of edge. She suggests wearing them with everything from maxi dresses to jumpers, proving that hardware is not so difficult to wear. Zoe adores the Nazhin sandal and says, “Dress up these studded flats with a fabulous bright pedicure, then wear them everywhere!”

Richy's Rant 5.2.13 B

We all have unrealistic visions of summer. We see ourselves frolicking through meadows catching butterflies, cliff diving, picking daisies, sunning poolside, lounging at the beach with a 6 pack (of beer) and a swimsuit body worthy of being illustrated. But the fact of the matter is most of us will spend the summer here on the computer, crying a little that we can’t go outside partially naked. Instead we’ll be running errands, feeding pets, feeding children, driving to wherever in traffic, squeezing in a workout, bathing, and attempting to get enough sleep.

I’m not cool enough to have a window seat, so here’s how I plan to evade SSAD (summer seasonal affective disorder) and all the MAYhem.

Step 1: Work out. Lunch-hour power walks will help you stay lively during the less-sunshiny hours at your desk.  Probably best walk away from the minimart cashier/fatty-snack pusher.

Do or Day: Take at least one day a week to devote more than 5 minutes to your daily wardrobe choice. Don’t pick Mondays because they’re too manic, and everybody hates them anyway. Tuesday is good; you’ve had like a whole day to acclimate. Wednesdays are the beginning of your weekend anticipation, so you can just throw on anything and call it a hump day. Thursdays works because they build excitement. Don’t dress up on Fridays because you’ll feel better when you transform into your sassed-up summer self later that night. That’s the theory of relativity.

Finally: Consider a Miami sound machine—sans Gloria Estefan. You can get a sound machine at most bedding stores (and beyond). You might not be at the beach, but there’s no reason you can’t fall asleep to the sound of crashing waves.

Hi Alyssa!  For those that don’t know yet, what is your role here at ShoeDazzle?

Alyssa:  I’m a User Interface Designer, which is really awesome because it means I get to work on the layout and enhancements to our website and there sure have been lots of exciting changes to it lately!  I’ve also enjoyed my time spent designing the mobile site as it continually plays a bigger role in our business.

So much awesome-ness!  We get more and more excited every day about our new site!  There have been so many changes.  What’s been your favorite one so far?
A:  As I just alluded to, I’d say the website redesign has been my favorite change of all.  I loved how all of our teams came together to pull that off in such a short amount of time.  It was a tremendous learning experience for us all.  After all the late nights everyone put in, we should all be dancing in our Dazzle shoes over the end result!

All of that hard work really paid off.  How long have you been in graphic design?
A:  Oh wow.  Where should my story even begin?  I started to really get into web design during my early high school years.  I then started to design and code fan sites and the like.  Afterwards, I started studying at The Art Institute in 2004, I believe, and I’ve been working professionally for about 6 years.

Sounds like you got an early start!  What would you say is your favorite type of shoe (we know, it’s hard to choose).
A:  Do I have to pick just one?  I guess I have a thing for booties but…I also love my wedges!

The more the merrier, right?  You can never have too many shoes….What’s your must have of the moment?
A:  I really love the Beau + Ashe Seven platform shoe that’s in my ShoeDazzle showroom this month.  I’ve eyeballed it in the photo studio a few times and I really should just get it.  It’s a really fun color-blocked style.

So…you recently got engaged!  Details, please!
A:  My fiance, Brian, and I were having our usual white elephant Christmas party last December.  It was filled with surprises and then Brian announced there was one more surprise we all should gather in the living room for.  That’s when he walked up to me and got down on one knee with a ring!  It took me a moment to realize it was really happening.  We’re very happy after 5 years of dating!

Romantic!  Any honeymoon plans?
A:  Nothing set yet, but I’d love to just relax on the beach somewhere with a Mai Tai.  We have a pre wedding trip to Munich, Germany planned for later this year though!  Gonna cross going to the original Oktoberfest off the bucket list!

Do you have any quirky things about yourself that you want to share with us?
A:  I LOVE vinyl records (my birthday is this month, hint hint).  My fiance is probably sick of hearing the same Sinatra album on repeat.  I’m also very clumsy.  I fell down an escalator once in the London Underground with luggage and everyone coming down piled up on the carnage.

That’s so crazy!  Has anything crazier than that happened to you?
A:  One story that comes to mind is when I was going to see my friends’ band play at a David Bowie tribute show and on the way there I got a flat tire and a nice truck driver stopped and put the spare on it.  After the show, I saw that I locked my keys in the car.  AAA came and we got them out and then when he left, I went to start my car and the battery was dead so my friends gave it a jump.  That’s the night that I met my fiance, so to me, that makes it extra crazy.  I think most of my crazy stories involve my old car failing me.

Wow!  Sounds like crazy turned crazy good!  Lastly, what are your girly must haves?
A:  Besides a ton of shoes?  I’ve recently discovered the importance of a good face moisturizing regime.  Don’t be afraid to splurge on some Kiehl’s Rosa Arctica.  I spent a while looking for a good, lightweight, alochol free moisturizer and it’s great!

Thanks Alyssa!

Hi Vanessa!  What is your official  job title here at ShoeDazzle?

Vanessa:  I am the Sr. Manager of Marketing & Consumer Insights.

Favorite perk about working here?

V:  It ‘s being on top of fashion trends without event trying.  We’re constantly surrounded by it!

Yes.  ShoeDazzle is very fashion forward in a high paced environment!  How would you best describe your style?

V:  Always effortless.  I add a pop of color or something edgy every now and then to keep it interesting.

Effortlessly chic is what you’re known for in the office.  Now, let’s talk about your flawless skin!  What’s your beauty regimen?

V:  It’s a really simple one.  Cleanse, moisturize, BB cream for the day.  I’m all for the multi-purpose stuff.  The only thing I’m really particular about is SPF!

Good ol’ SPF.  The best anti-aging remedy.  So…you recently got married (and to a doctor)!  What’s it like being so young and married?

V:  Honestly, it’s not much different than not being married.  We’ve known for a very long time that we’d spend the rest of our lives together.  When you know, you know.  All that’s changed is we had a huge party and a legal document that says it happened.  And the being married to a doctor part?  Well, he’s a urologist, so we have interesting dinner conversations.  In all seriousness, I love talking to him to put my work stress into perspective.  I’m selling hot shoes, not saving lives.

Yes, two very different types of stress. What’s are some of your favorite spots to visit?

V:  My favorite spot I have traveled to is on the Big Island in Hawaii.  My husband and I saw a tiny sign with an arrow pointing to the southern most tip of the US.  We followed those signs for miles in complete darkness until we got to the biggest waves we’ve ever seen.  It was simultaneously scary and peaceful.

Sounds a-mazing.  What are your next travel plans?

V:  We’re finally going on our honeymoon later this year!  The destination is a surprise.  He’s planning it and not revealing anything until we get to the airport.  I got a good one.

You really did!  He better let you know what shoes you’ll need to pack!  What are your shoe must-haves of the moment?

V:  I’m loving the sneaker wedge.  They’re super easy to wear and instantly adds so much to your look.

They’re a trend that we’re really loving!  Are there any funny stories you want to share?

V:  My husband built me a ridiculous sized shoe closet when I first started working here.  Sweet gesture but I think he was sick of all the pink shoe boxes piling up!

Wow.  He has about 500 brownie points right now!  What’s something we wouldn’t know about you?

V:  I used to be a dancer.  I even auditioned for the Laker girls.  It was a long time ago but it’s still a secret dream of mine.

Love it!  You’ll have to teach us a dance class soon!
