Meet Jenny Wu, a stylish fashion lawyer and full time blogger at “Good, Bad, and Fab.” We’re quite obsessed with this style maven, and know you will be too!
How would you describe your personal style?
My personal style is very eclectic and reflects the diversity of LA’s neighborhoods and colorful subcultures. In just one outfit change, I can go from Venice boho to Beverly HIlls posh!
Who or where do you draw inspiration from?
I draw my inspiration from style blogs, magazines, pinterest, and the streets of LA. I grew up in LA so I can’t help but be influenced by its celebrity culture and count Kate Bosworth and Nicole Richie as two of my style favs.
What trends do you have to try before the summer season ends?
I’m bummed it’s August already and am in a mad rush to try out the “skort” trend and am working up the courage to rock a pair of statement making gladiators sandals.
Blogging isn’t your only experience in the world of fashion. What’s life like for a fashion lawyer?
Quite tame compared to fashion blogging! I draft contracts, negotiate licensing deals, and am involved in the enforcement of copyrights and trademarks. Basically, I take care of the behind the scenes work that keep the fashion wheels spinning.
Do you have any advice for students who want to pursue fashion law?
Get an internship at a law firm that represents fashion clients to get an idea of the industry and the work involved. Start networking early by attending industry mixers and events. Knowledge is power!
When you shop, how do you balance choosing clothes for work and leisure?
I don’t. I make sure everything I buy is versatile enough to wear to work and to play.
If you were to spill one beauty secret with us, what would it be?
M.A.C. Russian Red lipstick. It will change the way you see red lipstick and maybe even change your life.
Your blog name is “Good, Bad, and Fab” what are some good and/or bad experiences you have had with fashion over the years?
Since I’ve started my blog, I’ve had so many good, great and fabulous experiences. Going to New York and Milan fashion week definitely are on the top of the list. Being the official Saks Fifth Avenue blogger is also up there. As for bad experiences, I think I tend to take on more than I can chew because I get so excited when new opportunities come up. So I end up trying to juggle a hundred projects at once which results in sleep deprivation. So yeah, unable to experience the joy of sleeping eights hours a night is a bad experience.
Finish the sentence. My fashion mantra is work, play, dress, and live fabulously!
