We’ve teamed up with our dazzling makeup artist Karoliina Kangas to teach you how to recreate a sultry pout that’s perfect for the holiday season.
The shade of choice is Oxblood! This daring red hue suits all skin tones and will be a flawless contrast for those that range from pale winter to deep brown; think Kristen Dunst and Gabrielle Union.
First, you’ll need a good lip liner that’s not too moisturizing or oily so the color doesn’t fade. We used COVERGIRL LipPerfection Lipliner in Sublime 200. Give your lips a good base by filling them in with your lip liner.
If you’re feeling edgy try a red lip liner that’s brighter than your lipstick. “This will give a nice twist to your look; in the 90’s there was always a darker lip liner than the actual lip color so now this gives it a fun pop,” says Kangas.
Next, apply a shiny or matte lipstick. Kangas prefers matte because of the modern look it produces. For those that want a custom shade, and be honest who doesn’t, mix more than one lipstick together. To create the look above, blend Chestnut and Dare You by MAC.
