It’s finally 2020. A new decade, and if we’re being honest, the time that we thought would be super futuristic. Whether this year is all about getting some perspective and seeing everything with 20/20 vision, or going to the gym more to work out, we can all agree that with a new year, it’s a good time to reflect and reset for what’s ahead of us. We’re putting ourselves first and prioritizing self-care all year long. How you ask? Podcasts. Keep scrolling for some of our favorite podcasts that will help you love yourself in 2020.
#1 Gettin’ Grown: Maybe your goal this year is to finally figure out this whole adulting thing, or maybe just give yourself the space to do the best you can, while still learning to become better and better along the way. If this sounds like you, or you just want to listen to two 30-somethings who might just be your new BFFs, tune in to Getting’ Grown with Jade and Keia. These two even noticed that they could do better with their self-care and added a segment on their favorite practices at the end of last year.
#2 Brave, Not Perfect with Reshma Saujani: This podcast is beautifully done by Reshma Saujani, the founder of Girls Who Code. She’s someone who created a non-profit to educate and prepare young girls for STEM fields, so she is someone who has bravely shattered the status quo and helped other young women to do so as well. Reshma Saujani is joined on the podcast by the likes of boss women such as Arianna Huffington, Elaine Welteroth, and Lizzo to discuss bravery. If your idea of self-care means ditching perfectionism in favor of simply being brave, this podcast is for you!
#3 Journey to Launch: Sometimes self-care is about just saying “you don’t know what you don’t know” and addressing an area that could always use more knowledge and more intentionality: your finances. If in 2020, you want to become financially healthy or maybe begin investing, check out Journey to Launch with financial educator Jamila Souffrant. She gets into all the details on multiple aspects of the journey to financial freedom by sitting down and sharing others’ stories of the lessons they’ve learned.
#4 Glossy: Maybe this year you’re planning to start a business or you just want to satisfy your curious mind by learning more. Or maybe you’re a fashion enthusiast who just wants to learn more about fashion as a business. If any of these apply to you, check out Glossy, where you can listen in on conversations with the CEOs and other executive leaders of some of fashion’s biggest businesses, and learn about how they see new technology impacting fashion.
#5 The Friend Zone: Sometimes self-care is all about laughing and smiling just a little bit more. If this sounds like you, definitely check out the Friend Zone with Dustin Ross, HeyFranHey, and Assante. Now, this podcast does focus on mental well-being, but it’ll certainly touch on pop culture and you’ll get some really good belly laughs in along the way.
