Started from the Bottom: How to Build An Outfit Starting with Shoes

Ever have a pair of shoes, but just can’t seem to figure out how to style them? Or even worse…have a killer pair that collects dust for months before ever having that big reveal. The stress is too real! Here are some tips on styling an outfit based on your shoes.

Sporty Spice

Sneaker wedges are everything right now! Dress this trendy style up or down with jeans and a relaxed tee, or try a sporty, yet sexy look with an Off the Shoulder Bodycon dress. This is the Sporty Spice starter pack, girls!

When styling an outfit, first look at the type of shoe, and envision a look based on the trend or style. Then consider the color and details to determine the color palette you’re going for. I usually like to keep the look fairly simple, and add some sort of pop of color to give it a bold touch. This yellow bag adds just the right amount of summer-touch to this outfit. The Distressed Denim adds the perfect contrast to the black-on-black, and pairs greatly with the yellow bag.

Pumps are hands down my favorite silhouette to play with. You can wear them with just about anything! Pretty pumps always add a chic touch to an otherwise simple outfit. Start with a pair of pink or red pumps, and throw on your go-to pair of jeans that accentuate your shape. You can rock them rolled up, or wear them cropped at the ankle. Distressed-is-BEST is my motto! Add a simple knit tunic in a neutral color to avoid taking the attention away from your outfits main attraction: the shoes. Accessorize with a clutch or belt that coordinates with the color of your shoes, and rock this look at an afternoon lunch.

Casual platforms are the perfect weekend look. The Anesha platforms in cognac go with just about anything, and give you those 70s chic vibes. The Chambray Button Down and Relaxed Cargo pant are perfect for this casual cool look. Finish it off with a hat, and a matching bag, and you’re good for a weekend getaway!
