Thirsty Thursday – Mulled Apple Cider

It’s cold and we want warmth! ShoeDazzle headquarters might be based in sunny southern California (so we might be a little bit spoiled), but the average daily temperature has dropped a WHOLE 5 DEGREES since summer, and we have no intentions of catching a cold. 65° is not exactly freezing, but it’s about time we finally have that first mug of mulled apple cider of the year: if not for warmth, then AT LEAST to be festive…

Speaking of which: it’s party season!

WHAT YOU’LL NEED (serves 6-8)

2 quarts apple cider
2 cinnamon sticks
2 whole allspice berries
2 whole cloves
1 whole anise star
1 orange, thinly sliced

HOW TO MAKE

Bring all ingredients to a slow simmer in a large saucepan. Divide and pour the cider among mugs and serve hot.

OPTIONAL: a shot of rum for each mug. 😉
