I’m sure by now, you’ve heard the term #BlackGirlMagic, and thought to yourself…what is that? Where does it come from? How can I get it? We’re all about women empowerment and all women are magical in their own light, but we thought we’d dig a little deeper to define this movement in particular. So in celebration of Black History Month, we asked a few girls around the office what #BGM means to them, and their responses were…you guessed it—magical!
The term #BlackGirlMagic was coined to describe the essence of a black woman’s strength, confidence, beauty, and ability to overcome struggles in an effortless fashion. The magic you see comes from a line of black women throughout history that have demonstrated what it’s like to shine through adversity; to sprinkle a little fairy dust every time they enter a room. From Beyonce to Josephine Baker to Viola Davis, and Rosa Parks—these women have been OWNING it. This month, and year round, we celebrate those beautiful women.
